The lot at the corner of Mill and Gallatin that was graciously donated by Sylvia Willoughby is being turned into a reading park in honor of Lawrence âChinaâ Slaughterâ
The park is being dedicated to the memory of Lawrence âChinaâ Slaughter including a bronze statue to pay tribute to his passion for Liberty students.
A number of community groups have been involved in planning and fundraising for this park.
The Liberty School District Foundation and the Liberty Arts Foundation are raising funds to turn this space into a beautiful park - donate now to support our efforts!
Lawrence âChinaâ Slaughter is perhaps best remembered for the 32 years he spent as a crossing guard under special commission from the Liberty Police Department.
The Liberty Arts Foundation in partnership with the Liberty Arts Commission has commissioned a full size bronze statue depicting Lawrence âChinaâ Slaughter standing between tow elementary children.
